We cannot insist too much that the centre of the Christian faith is Christ. By Christ, we both enter into the Christian faith and continue to be established in the faith. True faith is faith in a person, Jesus Christ, through whom we enter into the same relationship as many other followers of Christ who already enjoy a relationship with him. By saying this, we are not negating the significance of the role played by the biblical story and theological truth concerning Christ, which gives us both guidance and helps understand our experience of Christ. Equally, we affirm our faith in the creed, which should always be a confession of the trust we already have in God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and an aspiration towards the deeper trust we desire as followers of Christ.
