What Are We For?

Les Henson

Many outside the Church view Christian people as miseries, humourless and against everything from sex to coffee and most things in between. Yet we, above all people, should be known for our faith, hope, love, and especially for our joy. We have a lot that should make us joyful. I think it sad when God’s people lack joy and also a sense of humour. For good wholesome fun and laughter should be a trademark of God’s people in the world, rather than being seen as sourpusses, wet blankets or spoilsports.

Similarly, instead of being known for what we are against, we should know what we are for – peace, justice, and mercy. I realise we often receive bad press. But to be honest, at times, we thoroughly deserve it.
