Violence in the City (Poem)

Les Henson

Unending Violence

On the streets

Of the city

Ceaseless, senseless violence

Needless bloodshed

Bodies broken

Pain inflicted

Abuse and rape

Lives destroyed

Affecting the lives

Of victims and perpetrators

Families devastated

Mother’s mourning

Father’s grieving

Son’s lost

Daughter’s never returning.

Humanity found wanting

A barren waste

Devoid of love

From where comes hope?
