Time to Reassess

Over the past two hundred and fifty years or so, the church has been badly affected by the Enlightenment. It has bought into its worldview uncritically. This understanding has resulted in an absolutist, dichotomistic and dualistic version of the faith that pervaded all sides of theology, evangelicals included. Maybe, it is time to seriously reassess many of our theological understandings in the light of a post-everything world to correct some of our understandings or misunderstandings and make sure we don’t make the same mistake once again in the new world we now inhabit. This reassessment will be painful for many, but it needs to be done if we are not to distort the faith nor make it unintelligible to those we are called to engage and for our own understanding of the faith we hold so dearly.
