The Church and Culture

Updated: Aug 4, 2019

For the church to grow and be meaningful in a particular culture, it must speak to the people of that culture. It must be embedded within the context of the culture in which it is seeking to engage. Thus, the church should in no way be extracted from the nitty-gritty of everyday life. It must not live a ghetto-like existence. Instead, the church, as the people of God, will only grow and be meaningful as it is in the world, and engaging meaningfully with the world, if it doe not buy into the values of the world. Consequently, the church should look different in every culture it enters and engages.
