Sterile World (Poem)

The new atheists rage

at the thought of enchantment.

Preferring absence rather than presence

in the sterile world of the abyss.

Nothingness reigns in the silence

of a world without purpose.

Faith in none belief is contested

in a world where nothing is incontestable.

The danger faced by those who repudiate faith

is that re-enchantment is no respecter of persons.

Determined to show no signs of weakness

they are susceptible to unbelieving unbelief.

God is dead or so they say

yet they so clearly miss Him.

Afraid that in a moment of uncertainty

He might just sneak up on them unawares.
