Having Space and Margins in Our Lives

Les Henson

Having space, or "margin," in our lives is vitally important. This space between our responsibilities and limitations is essential for maintaining energy and strength, ensuring long-term wholeness and meaning in our lives, while making time for rest, relationships, and learning.

In the past, people had more margin in their lives, allowing for rest and meaningful connections. Today, with the fast pace of life, these opportunities are rare. Many push themselves too hard to keep up with modern demands, often leading to stress and exhaustion.

Learning to say no to some activities and yes to others becomes crucial as we navigate increasing stress, change, and overload in our society. These challenges are particularly significant for those who prioritise spiritual well-being as they strive to maintain balance and health while facing these pressures.
