As the people of God, we are to challenge the idols of Western culture so eagerly promoted in the media and sections of the church. We need to do so from the position of being radical, thinking traditionalists. By that, I mean that we should radically engage both the contemporary secularist's status quo within our culture and the churches died-in-the-wool traditionalist with the church. The challenge of confronting both entities in their different and opposing dogmatisms is the task set before us. The contemporary secularist's status quo must be debunked and its idols exposed by the gospel of the kingdom and reign of God in Jesus Christ. In contrast, the died-in-the-wool traditionalist with the church must be confronted by a gospel that takes contemporary culture and its idols seriously while being anchored in the traditional sources of the Christian faith in a creative and refreshing manner.
