Life is but a shadow

Deep and dark

Light and grey

Falling in peculiar ways

Across the landscape

Of my mind

Seeking the mysteries

In the place between

Light and dark

Good and evil

Indifference and concern

Questioning all things

Finding some response

In the cracks between

The paving stones

Looking for truth

In lonely isolation

Away from the conceit

And arrogance

Of this world
