Treating All People with Respect and Dignity

It seems to me that it might be better to be Donald Trump’s dog than his advisor. The rate he is going through advisors is a worry, but the way he treats them is a greater concern. To dismiss a person by tweet shows a lack of human decency. What is the world coming to when the so-called, leader of the free world continuously behaves in such a manner? I believe that it is important to treat all people with respect and dignity regardless of the position in life. Over the past few months, I have been doing my morning walks in the local shopping mall largely because of have chronic fatigue as a result from my encounter with dengue fever I find that the flatness and constant temperature to be more beneficial for my walking routine. However, one of my observations on doing my three daily circuits of the mall is that nobody ever looks at, speaks to, or acknowledges the many cleaners working to keep everything clean and tidy. No eye contact is ever made, or a word spoken to them which makes the job really thankless. So over the past few weeks, I have been going out of my way to greet the cleaners and make eye contact with them as I encounter them on my daily walk. It has been most encouraging for me to witness their response. Usually, a broad smile and a nod of the head, and sometimes a few words of greeting, but there is always a positive response. In this world of Donald Trump let us protest against his lack of humanity by finding small but important ways of demonstrating that every person is of value and needs to be treated with respect and dignity. It is vital we don’t fall in line with his crass values.
