Let Us Leave Second-hand Hardnosed Dogma on the Shelf Unread
Updated: Jun 14, 2019
“This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Jeremiah 6:16)
Note that Jeremiah speaks of wisdom from ancient paths, not second-hand dogma. Walking ancient paths and drinking from ancient wells is life-giving, it is spiritually energising, but dusty hard-nosed dogma whether it comes from the right or the left squashes one's spirit, it sends one to hell in a handcart or leaves one without any kind of hope at all, it kills both the spirit and the soul. Let us seek the way of ancient paths that we might have life and have it in great abundance, but let us leave the dusty hard-nosed dogma on the shelf unread.
