The people of Jesus day were looking for the Messiah, yet the majority of people missed the Messiah when he came, and they followed all kinds of would be Messiah’s. The result was that Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed, and the people decimated. Today, many leaders come on the scene locally and globally and again many people follow hoping that this time it will be different yet it rarely is! Certainly, our world needs visionary leaders but over the past 60 years, there have been few leaders that have possessed real gravitas. The few that come to mind have been those who attempted to heal division instead of creating them. Let us be careful whom we choose to follow. Even Jesus who came to reconcile all things to himself, both in heaven and on earth ended up on a Roman cross. This is often the way of leadership that brings lasting change and transformation to the world.
