In beginning a New Year, it is good to step back and reflect upon the past year's events. It is not difficult to catalogue the events as good or bad and assess what kind of year it has been. But, what about our spiritual journey? Are we ready or willing to take stock and assess our progress on the journey of life? In what areas of our lives have we grown or matured? In which aspects of our lives have we stood still or retreated? How can we do better, and what things do we need to put in place to overcome our shortcomings in the coming years? Perhaps we need to set aside a time of reflection for spiritual stocktaking and allow space and time for God to speak into our lives and reset our spiritual compass.
